Okay, dear Readers. I need you to listen to me, and listen to me well. Get this book.
The year 2015 has not been kind to me. There has been fear beyond belief, stress, insecurity, pain and hopelessness. (There has also been one incredible moment after another with Jesus…but more on that, later.) Maybe your year has been amazing. Maybe you are the happiest that you have ever been. Or maybe, like me, you’re just struggling to breathe every day. In whatever situation you find yourself in, your heart needs this book.
With immeasurable humor, Jen Hatmaker teaches her readers what it means to be free. She also teaches her readers what it means to be in bondage. And I promise you, Friends…when the To-Do list is cleared, the house is cleaned up, the world is quiet and you are alone with your thoughts, you know exactly what weighs your heart down. Whether it be your own impossible expectations, your seemingly unreachable dreams, your marriage, the opinions of others, your past mistakes; something keeps you from living in the freedom that Christ has given you. The freedom that already belongs to you.
I’m not a big fan of emotion (I don’t want to feel things! Run away!) but she uses her humor to get you laughing and to really drive her points home. And then, once she shows you how to live in your own freedom and to love being in your own skin again (seriously, the standards we have set for ourselves are ridiculously laughable), she teaches you how to love others. Friends, it’s a win-win.
Bottom Line: Get the book. Read the book. Then read the book again. Also? Follow her on Facebook. Because ohmygosh, she’s hilarious.
