Series: Clan Kendrick, Book 4
Genre: Historical Romance/Scottish
The latest in bestselling author Vanessa Kelly’s intoxicating Clan Kendrick series shines a light on the most respectable member of the Kendrick clan—and the independent woman who stole his heart…
Miss Kathleen Calvert may be the daughter of an Irish aristocrat, but she has no intention of acting like one. All she desires is to return to her family’s estate to raise horses and manage her father’s magnificent gardens. But when a scandal threatens her reputation, her parents order her to a remote Scottish estate, hoping she will finally learn to behave like a proper lady. To make matters worse, her escort is a handsome Highlander who just happens to be the most boring man in all of Scotland…
After a youth of dangerous and wild escapades, Grant Kendrick surprised his family—and himself—by becoming a successful businessman and the most respectable Kendrick brother. But does that matter, when the beautiful and free-spirited Kathleen deems him a stodgy bore? Luckily, he gets the chance to prove her wrong when their carriage is ambushed by thieves. But it will take all his ingenuity to protect the beautiful lass who has stormed her way into his heart—and to convince her that a life with him will be a love-filled adventure…

Y’all, I had the absolute most fun with this story. Do you ever get in the mood for an easy read? Just a feel-good, wholesome story with loveable characters and a little mystery thrown in? Oh Friend, me too. So grab yourself your favorite cozy tea or coffee, and let me tell you about The Highlander’s Irish Bride.
Kathleen is not your typical lady. As opposed to being quiet and demure, she is fiery tempered and spirited. (i.e. I loved her immediately, she is my new BFF.) When she gets herself involved in a scandal that has the potential to ruin her reputation, her less-than-awesome stepmother decides to send her to Scotland to stay with the Kendrick family. This where she meets Grant Kendrick, and the story truly begins.
Sitting back and watching Kathleen and Grant’s relationship unfold was such a treat. Neither of them were very interested in the other at first, which was quite comical really. Through various circumstances that they had to navigate together, they began to develop a friendship. Which of course, led to more. The secondary characters were no-less memorable than the main characters, each adding their own quirks and personalities into the mix. The story moved quickly and fluidly. The author seamlessly wove passion, adventure, suspense, fun and humor into her story, which resulted in my complete inability to set the book down for long.
P.S. This book is the 4th in a series, but easily reads as a stand-alone.
Bottom Line: Put on your favorite yoga pants, grab your fuzziest socks, brew your yummiest tea and prepare yourself for a cozy tale.
