The Traitor + Giveaway!

The Traitor by T.J. London

Publication Date: October 26, 2018
eBook; 574 pages

Series: The Rebels and Redcoats Saga, Book #2
Genre: Historical Fiction

Spy. Liar. Scoundrel. Redcoat.

Provocateur and spy for His Majesty, Captain John Carlisle returns to Fort Niagara with the secrets he stole in the arms of the beautiful Oneida innkeeper, Dellis McKesson. Determined to complete his mission and clear his name, he’ll see justice done—and damn the consequences. Now, he finds himself drawn into political intrigue as the British prepare to launch a three-pronged attack that will bring the Rebels and the Mohawk River Valley to its knees.

A dangerous revelation finds Dellis as whispers of intrigue insinuate her beloved is not all that he seems. Unwilling to wait for her lover’s return, she sets out in search of the truth as the Onieda begin negotiations with the Rebels, breaking the neutrality agreement with the crown. A bold move that will stoke a fire between the brother tribes and lead to a bloody inter-confederacy war—one Dellis predicted, and one John incited.

While war between the colonies and the King smolders, the punishing winter of 1777 allows the perfect opportunity for old enemies to settle scores, lying in wait, ready to exploit John’s one weakness—his heart. John is not an innocent man. The truth he’s long tried to hide from can no longer be ignored, the ghosts of the past seeking justice, and karma wanting payment for sins so dark they cannot be forgiven.

My ReviewOkay, Friends. If you saw my previous post about The Torywhich, judging by those of you who emailed me, quite a few of you did…then you know very. well. what this post is going to entail. Does the term “fangirl” mean anything to you? Yeah.

Brace for impact.

This novel is the absolute best thing I’ve read since…well, The Tory. And here’s why. You know when you discover characters that really resonate with you? Frodo, Arwen, Aslan, William Wallace, Optimus Prime, She-Ra…I don’t know, fill in your favorite. But, for me personally, when I fall in love with a character, I want more. I want their story to continue. I want to see what they are doing next, what they are doing now. And so it is with Captain John Carlisle. Y’all, I kid you not. You cannot…absolutely cannot…read these novels and not walk away with the hots for the Captain. Or at least mad respect. I’m sorry, but I love him to pieces, and so was absolutely overjoyed to continue his story (and Dellis’, too!) in The Traitor. And just as I expected, the book did not disappoint.

T.J. London’s passion for the era…as I mentioned previously…definitely shines through. But what I got such a kick out of in The Traitor was the author’s obvious love for her characters. As a reader, I have formed my own relationships with John and Dellis. But the author’s relationship with her characters is woven into every page, and is completely contagious. I absolutely poured through this book in record time. Also, I put my make-up on while reading this novel. (I couldn’t put it down.) Did you know that eyeliner doesn’t look right on eyebrows? I…uh…heard that from a friend.

In all seriousness, you guys know how much I love history, and you know how incredible I think this author is. But y’all…you really, truly have to read this novel. It literally has everything. You finish the book feeling as though you’ve made new friends, a little tense from the unknown twists, a bit breathless from the pace of the plot and fighting the urge to stand up and shout a battle cry while making Mac n’ Cheese for your Littles. It’s so good. It’s so, so good. Truly, anything this author writes from here on out, I will be first in line to buy.

Get the book, and then join my fangirl/fanboy club. Trust me, you’re going to want to. Plus, I have Rebel cookies.

Her passions are traveling, writing, reading, barre, and sharing a glass of wine with her friends, while she collects experiences in this drama called life.
