A Torch in His Heart

A Torch in His Heart by Anna Belfrage

Publication Date: August 31, 2018
Timelight Press
eBook & Paperback 514 Pages

Series: The Wanderer, Book One
Genre: Romance/Erotica/Paranormal

In the long lost ancient past, two men fought over the girl with eyes like the Bosporus under a summer sky. It ended badly. She died. They died.

Since then, they have all tumbled through time, reborn over and over again. Now they are all here, in the same place, the same time and what began so long ago must finally come to an end.

Ask Helle Madsen what she thinks about reincarnation and she’ll laugh in your face. Besides, Helle has other stuff to handle, what with her new, exciting job in London and her drop-dead but seriously sinister boss, Sam Woolf. And then one day Jason Morris walks into her life and despite never having clapped eyes on him before, she recognises him immediately. Very weird. Even more weird is the fact that Sam and Jason clearly hate each other’s guts. Helle’s life is about to become extremely complicated and far too exciting.

My Review: For those of you who have been around my blog for any length of time, you already know that one of my all-time-favoriteauthors-in-the-whole-freakin’-wide-world is Ms. Anna Belfrage. From Matthew and Alex, to Adam (a.k.a. my husband) (no really) (in my dreams) to Kit (my BFF), I have devoured every book by this author and carried her characters in my heart with me everywhere. So when I heard that Anna Belfrage had come out with a new book and a new series, I about died of bliss. Like, a-new-car-on-Christmas-morning, bliss. (You think I’m joking) I was especially curious, as the author stated that she had ventured into unchartered territory with this novel. Plus? The new series is called “The Wanderer.” Seriously, how bad-ass is that?

I. am. all. over. it.

Oh my holy stars, this book. Let’s start at the beginning, shall we? While my beloved “Graham Saga” would be considered a time-hop book (think “Outlander” but better), I would describe A Torch in His Heart as more of a time-flip. The characters have lived many lives; while they now dwell in modern times, the memories of their past lives bring a delicious historical feel to the story. Second, the characters! Oh my gosh, the characters. Once again, the characters are incredible, completely fleshed out and complex, and have made their permanent dwelling alongside the other aforementioned characters. Jason had so much depth and humanity and chivalry, I loved him instantly. Helle was so beautifully raw and unswerving. And Sam? Sam scared the @%*! out of me. The man is dark, conniving and lethal. Lastly? The author, once again, set a scene for her readers with ease, bringing the action directly into the mind’s eye with no difficulties whatsoever…including the steamy bits. (Anna has this brilliant way of writing adult scenes into a novel in a way that only enhances the plot. I kid you not. Other authors have me hiding my face from the book with red cheeks.)

To say that I loved this book would be a gross understatement. To tell you that I adore this author and her writing style would hit far below the mark.

My opinion that you should buy this book immediately? A truer word was never spoken.

Try me.

About the Author

Had Anna been allowed to choose, she’d have become a time-traveller. As this was impossible, she became a financial professional with three absorbing interests: history and writing.

Anna has authored the acclaimed time travelling series The Graham Saga, set in 17th century Scotland and Maryland, as well as the equally acclaimed medieval series The King’s Greatest Enemy which is set in 14th century England. (Medieval knight was also high on Anna’s list of potential professions. Yet another disappointment…)

With Jason and Helle, Anna has stepped out of her historical comfort zone and has loved doing so.
